Universities With The Least Happy Students

Universities With The Least Happy Students by: Naomi Nishihara on June 16, 2017 | 1 Comment Comments 28,325 Views June 16, 2017Its never good to make a list like this one. Once a year,  The Princeton Review ranks the universities with the least happy students — the students who just arent finding fulfillment at their chosen school. And while theres a fair amount of turnover, a few schools are making the list every year.  Regulars include the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Montana Tech of the University of Montana, the United States Naval Academy, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Clarkson University, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and the Illinois Institute of Technology. While The Princeton Reviews quality of life rankings are based entirely on student surveys,  a study  conducted in 2014 shows that the rankings can actually affect application numbers. A school that makes the happiest students list will see applications go up an average of 2.9%, while a school that makes the least happy students list will see applications go down by 5%.The survey is sent to  students at nearly 400 universities, and this ranking is determined by answers to the question, Overall, how happy are you? To see which schools made the list over the past four years, check out the chart below.Ranking The ‘Least Happy Students’ From 2014 to 2017.tftable {font-size:12px;color:#333333;width:100%;border-width: 1px;border-color: #729ea5;border-collapse: collapse;}.tftable th {font-size:12px;background-color:#acc8cc;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;text-align:left;}.tftable tr {background-color:#d4e3e5;}.tftable td {font-size:12px;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;}.tftable tr:hover {background-color:#ffffff;}.tftable {font-size:12px;color:#333333;width:100%;border-width: 1px;border-color: #729ea5;border-collapse: collapse;} .tftable th {font-size:12px;background-c olor:#acc8cc;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;text-align:left;} .tftable tr {background-color:#d4e3e5;} .tftable td {font-size:12px;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;} .tftable tr:hover {background-color:#ffffff;}2017 Rank School2017 Rank2016 Rank2015 Rank2014 RankMontana Tech of the University of Montana172010New Jersey Institute of Technology2331United States Coast Guard Academy3415NRUnited States Naval Academy4694Clarkson University59109University of Hawaii at Manoa6546United States Merchant Marine Academy7222McGill University88NR11Simmons College9NRNRNRIllinois Institute of Technology1010616Marlboro College11NRNRNRUniversity of California Berkeley12NRNRNRUniversity of Mary Washington13NRNRNRWheaton College (MA)14NRNRNRUniversity of Louisville15NRNRNRTransylvania University16NRNRNRSt. Johns University1711NR17University of New Orleans181316NRCalifornia State University, Stanislaus1914NRNRPortland Stat e University2016NRNRManhattanville CollegeNR1511United States Military AcademyNR12135Wesleyan CollegeNR15NRNRDuquesne UniversityNR177NRCity University of New York Queens CollegeNR18NR14Alfred UniversityNR1912NRIndiana University of PennsylvaniaNR20148Marywood UniversityNRNR17Suffolk UniversityNRNR8NRState University of New York Stony Brook UniversityNRNR11NRCity University of New York Baruch CollegeNRNR173The University of South DakotaNRNR18NRThe Catholic University of AmericaNRNR19NRThe Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and ArtNRNRNR13University of MaineNRNRNR15Rider UniversityNRNRNR18Wesleyan University (GA)NRNRNR19University of North DakotaNRNRNR20Source: The Princeton ReviewDONT MISS UNIVERSITIES WITH THE LEAST HAPPY STUDENTS (2010-2014) Page 1 of 11 Universities With The Least Happy Students Universities With The Least Happy Students by: Naomi Nishihara on August 13, 2014 | 1 Comment Comments 38,701 Views August 13, 2014Sad days for the schools on this list. A study conducted by the American Educational Research Association earlier this year concluded that appearing on The  Princeton Review’s  Least Happy Students list can negatively impact a school’s application rate. While the study says that schools on the Happy Students list see an average 2.9% increase in applications, schools determined  to have the Least Happy Students may see a 5% decrease. The rankings are determined by the survey question: â€Å"Overall, how happy are you?†The good news is schools dont seem to stay on the list for long. Of the 43 schools that have made the list in the past six years, only five were listed every time: the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, the United States Naval Academy, Clarkson University, and the Illi nois Institute of Technology. Here are the schools with the least happy students:Ranking The Least Happy Students From 2015 to 2010.tftable {font-size:12px;color:#333333;width:100%;border-width: 1px;border-color: #729ea5;border-collapse: collapse;} .tftable th {font-size:12px;background-color:#acc8cc;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;text-align:left;} .tftable tr {background-color:#d4e3e5;} .tftable td {font-size:12px;border-width: 1px;padding: 8px;border-style: solid;border-color: #729ea5;} .tftable tr:hover {background-color:#ffffff;}2015 Rank School2015 Rank2014 Rank2013 Rank2012 Rank2011 Rank2010 Rank  Marywood University  1  7  2  2  9  NR  United States Merchant Marine Academy  2  2  4  3  2  1  New Jersey Institute of Technology  3  1  3  1  5  6  University of Hawaii Manoa  4  6  12  NR  NR  NR  Manhattanville College  5  11  13  NR  NR  NR  Illinois Institute of T echnology  6  16  8  9  15  11  Duquesne University  7  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  Suffolk University  8  NR  20  NR  NR  NR  United States Naval Academy  9  4  6  7  7  9  Clarkson University  10  9  7  6  10  13  State University of New York Stony Brook University  11  NR  NR  NR  11  1  Alfred University  12  NR  19  12  18  19  United States Military Academy  13  5  NR  NR  NR  18  Indiana University of Pennsylvania  14  8  5  8  NR  NR  United States Coast Guard Academy  15  NR  15  4  3  2  University of New Orleans  16  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  City University of New York Baruch College  17  3  10  10  NR  NR  University of South Dakota  18  NR  NR  18  NR  NR  Catholic University of America  19  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  Montana Tech of the University of Montana  20  10  1  5  NR  NR  McGill University  NR  11  13  NR  NR  NR  The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art  NR  13  NR  NR  NR  NR  City University of New York Queens College  NR  14  NR  NR  NR  NR  University of Maine  NR  15  9  17  NR  NR  St. Johns University (NY)  NR  17  NR  NR  NR  NR  Rider University  NR  18  17  NR  19  NR  Wesleyan University (GA)  NR  19  NR  NR  NR  NR  University of North Dakota  NR  20  11  NR  NR  NR  Xavier University of Louisiana  NR  NR  16  NR  NR  NR  California Institute of Technology  NR  NR  18  NR  NR  NR  New York University  NR  NR  NR  11  16  5  Fisk University  NR  NR  NR  13  1  4  Tuskegee University  NR  NR  NR  14  4  7  United States Air Force Academy  NR  NR  NR  15  13  16  University of California Riverside  NR  NR  NR  16  6  8   Whittier College  NR  NR  NR  19  14  17  University of New Orleans  NR  NR  NR  20  NR  NR  State University of New York at Albany  NR  NR  NR  NR  8  10  Eugene Lang College  NR  NR  NR  NR  12  14  University of Toronto  NR  NR  NR  NR  17  NR  University of Rhode Island  NR  NR  NR  NR  20  NR  University of Massachusetts Amherst  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  12  Trinity College (CT)  NR  NR  NR  NR  NR  20Source: The Princeton ReviewDONT MISS:  Universities With The Happiest Students Schools With The Best Classroom Experience The Princeton Review: 2015 Rankings Page 1 of 11
